چکیده

T he Daidalos project (www. ist-daidalos.org) is employing pervasive computing to organize network and communication technologies to enhance the user experience. More specifically, Daidalos seeks to help users access services no matter where they are and to improve the user experience by accounting for contextual information and user preferences. Our motivation to improve the user experience comes from our belief that future users will be bombarded with numerous electronic services. Everywhere, anytime access to services, facilitated by everincreasing coverage via various network technologies, means that users will constantly be exposed to services through different network-enabled channels. In such a world, service providers will be concerned mainly with getting users’ attention, and network providers will be concerned mainly with increased network use. Pervasive computing in Daidalos addresses an important piece of this puzzle—supporting ordinary users.

W earable computing systems should provide unobtrusive access to the IT infrastructure, so they should be physically unobtrusive, leave users’ hands free, and allow freedom of motion. In an industrial scenario, they must also minimize workers’ cognitive load and avoid distracting them from their primary tasks (see the sidebar “Related Work in Wearable Computing in Industrial Environments”). An ...

The function of permanent vascular access.

BACKGROUND Complications arising from vascular access (VA) are major causes of morbidity in patients on renal replacement therapy (RRT). They contribute to frustration of health care providers and to high medical cost. To prevent failures in the future it will be helpful to identify the factors that are related to VA malfunction. METHODS In a retrospective analysis we analysed the types, dura...
